Last month I had the opportunity to photograph my friend, Terra’s second delivery.  She had a C- section scheduled but started to go into labor before then. It was a fun whirlwind call when I received the ‘we’re going to the hospital’ text a week early.  Luckily, everything was okay with both Terra and baby Lucy.  I wasn’t allowed in the room when they actually did the C-section but I loved spending time with Terra and Josh in her room before delivery and the recovery room with Lucy.PINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGETerra had a wonderful nurse, Marie.  She was really positive and upbeat the entire time.PINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEMy favorite photo of the day: the proud papa with his little girl.PINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEI took hundreds of photos of baby Lucy’s birth story.  The best way to have a sense for what a birth story is like is to watch this  little video.  Congratulations Josh & Terra!

One of my favorite things about photographing a wedding is capturing the first time a bride and groom see each other.  Jenni and Apostolos opted to see each other in the beautiful Island area in the heart of Logan.  Not only was it a beautiful area, it was a sentimental place for Jenni because we were in the beautiful canal area above her parent’s home.  Due to wearing her mother’s delicate and beautiful lace dress, we opted for formals the day before their wedding to preserve the quality of the dress.

Last weekend we went camping with some friends to Strawberry Reservoir.  My husband thought I would be too delicate to go camping.  I guess wearing my flip-flops wasn’t too convincing.  To be honest, I love camping and as long as I have my camera, I’m okay anywhere! Even in Utah county 🙂Logan Utah Wedding Photographer pedicurePINIMAGECraig’s favorite thing was seeing the marine and wildlife.   I wish the fishing would’ve been better….but it’s the dog days of summer and the fish are lazy.  🙂Logan Utah Wedding Photographer Crawdad fishingPINIMAGEhawk flying photographed by Logan Utah Wedding PhotographerPINIMAGELogan Utah Wedding Photographer Strawberry ReservoirPINIMAGEThe flowers, grasses and trees were beautiful.  It was great to be out of the hustle and bustle of everyday Logan life and visiting another area in Utah.  It’s amazing all the beautiful things in Utah I haven’t seen yet.  I hope next year to make it hiking in Zions.Logan Utah Wedding Photographer yellow flowerPINIMAGELogan Utah Wedding Photographer purple thistlePINIMAGEreflection Logan Utah Wedding PhotographerPINIMAGEaspen print Logan Utah Wedding PhotographerPINIMAGEaspens Logan Utah Wedding PhotographerPINIMAGEThe thing that literally stopped me in my tracks: the skies.  I saw the most beautiful sunset. I love the story behind Jenni’s wedding dress.  Her mom, Nila, purchased this beautiful full length lace gown.  Nila mom never had a chance to wear it because her wedding plans changed…she eloped with Jenni’s dad 🙂  Jenni thought that it would be a great tribute to her parents to wear this dress.  Jenni re-purposed this dress with a beautiful bird cage veil, adding some lining, and modern floral belt to update it.  I love how it turned out!

I have been very blessed to have a busy wedding season this year.  I have loved every minute of it!  I had a small lull in my scheduled weddings and used that time to meet with several doctors throughout northern Utah.  The majority of my appointments have been with a fertility specialist in Layton.   I feel slightly like a push pin after going on a medical witch hunt with a half dozen specialists and half a dozen adoption agencies out in the wings.

After several years of trying to expand our little family, I feel a little discouraged.  There have been times I felt hurt, angry, devastated and confused.  I have spent many a time crying to Craig wondering why we can’t have something we really want.  Not just any something, but something really important to us.  It’s been a roller coaster working with doctors, insurance companies and really wondering if everything will work out.  I don’t have all the answers.  Luckily, this has been a trial that has really brought Craig and I closer.  This has also been a trial that has brought me closer to my faith.   For these two things, I am really grateful.

Now let the witch hunt continue…   🙂

  • Brittany - I know this sounds cliche but it will work out the way it is supposed to. I have watched may friends and family including you go through similar challenges and it always works out in God’s time and way. I know that you will get the child(ren) that is supposed to be apart of your family, and when that time comes it will be one lucky child to have you and Craig as parents. Continue to keep the faith and we will continue to include you in our prayers. We love you two.
Fingers crossed that it is soon.ReplyCancel

  • Tara - Oh Belinda. My older sister went through so much like what you are going through and it was really hard to see how difficult it was for her. I don’t know if you are in the mood to hear the phrase “everything will work out”, but it really, really will. Life is so interesting and I am thinking of you and hope that you are happy. Miss you!!!ReplyCancel

  • Janey - Just *hugs*.ReplyCancel
